The design of the product represents a significant factor in the product costs. Involving the potential manufacturer as early as possible in the product design process saves both money and time. Early collaboration generates know-how in terms of raw material selection, tool design and in determining the production and subsequent processes. Computer-aided C techniques (CAD, CAE), provide support in this, making it possible to optimize the required component properties in advance and, if necessary, simulate them.
To assess the design, suitability for assembly and handling of the product, prototypes can be produced using various methods such as rapid prototyping, 3D printing, etc. on the basis of the data from the design and construction phase. This final assessment of the product design based on a hand sample by all areas involved up to the end user minimizes costly and time-consuming changes during the course of the project implementation.
The quality of the injection mold is the basis for the economical production of high-quality plastic molded parts. To guarantee this, we purchase from proven tool manufacturing companies in order to avoid delivery bottlenecks and to use external, qualified specialist knowledge in tool manufacturing.
We accelerate the processes by using 3D product data provided by the customer or developed in-house. We proceed in a similar way for the required devices and automation technology. By filling the relevant positions in design and toolmaking with trained specialists, we are always able to guarantee quality in the areas of tool maintenance, servicing and repair.
Thermoplastic Injection Molding
The focus of our plastic processing is thermoplastic injection molding. On 25 injection molding machines with clamping forces from 250 kN to 3.200 kN, we process a wide range of thermoplastics, such as PP, PE, POM, PC, PMMA, ABS, PS, COC, TPE, PVC, PEEK. Depending on the application, modifications with fillers and reinforcing materials (e.g. talcum, glass, mineral, carbon fiber) are used. We offer other processes such as 2K injection molding and overmolding of inserts, which can be used for special requirements.
Elastomer processing
In addition to thermoplastic parts elastomer parts are manufactured also. Customers who require both thermoplastic and elastomeric products benefit from the company's many years of experience in the field of elastomer processing. We process elastomers on rubber injection molding maschines with clamping forces of 400 kN to 1.600 kN. Depending on the requirements of the application suitable raw materials are used, determined by hardness, rubber type and cross-linking system.
Besides part production we offer a variety of additional services. Of course, this includes packaging of the thermoplastic and/or elastomeric parts following customer specifications and requirements. In addition, KOENEN Kunststofftechnik GmbH offers a variety of post-production and assembly processes as follow-up finishing steps to achieve the final product.
